Ban Phe is surrounded by beaches and the next one is just 1 km away from your apartment.
All the beaches are gently sloped and mostly quiet without waves.
The water on the mainland is always less clearer than the water on the island especially in rainy season.

In the nearby Rayong Aquarium sharks, rays, turtles and much more marine wildlife can be discovered.

Ban Phe is ideally situated to enjoy holiday & beach atmosphere and still to be close to shopping centers, cinemas and other entertainment/attractions.

Suan Son beach (1 Km )

1 Km away from your apartment starts already the first beach: Pine trees provide shade and on days with low humidity you can see the island of Koh Samet. 

After about 2 Km of lonely beach, various seafood restaurants can be found. 

Cocktails and international drinks are also available at various places.
During the week the beach is found almost empty but on weekends and especially long holidays the beach becomes crowded mostly with visitor from Bangkok.

Banana Boat, Jet Ski and wind surfing can be found.

Suan Son forest (1 – 3 Km )

At the Suan Son beach a small but dense forest can be found with trails inside. 

The forest is only approximately 800 m wide and 4 km long, -just behind the beach. However, once inside it gives a feeling to hike in deep rain-forest. 

Rim Pae beach (7 – 10 Km )

The beach after Suan Son beach in direction Laem Mae Pim seams very “untouched” and there are only few roads to the beach (e.g. area Novotel) where cheap Thai-food and beach massages are offered.

Hat Maerampung beach (7 – 15 Km )

About 7 Km away from the apartment is one of the most beautiful beaches of the mainland in the province of Rayong. The “Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet,” National Park starts here already on the mainland adjacent to this beach. 

Some days the water has as good clarity as usually found on the island  Koh Samet.
Various restaurants with tasty and fresh sea found can be found as well as guesthouses and hotels to stay overnight.

Some skyscrapers give memories from the boom before the Asian crisis in the 90’s.

During the week the beach is found almost empty but on weekends and especially long holidays the beach becomes crowded mostly with visitor from Bangkok.

Between Hat Maerampung beach and Ban Phe (4 Km)

Between Hat Maerampung beach and Ban Phe starts already the first part of the Koh Samet National Park. This is a small hilly area with an exotic coast with stones and small beaches. There is also the famous Rayong Resort situated, -a luxury hotel with its own private beach. There is a road going in the park near the Hat Maerampung beach.
It is also possible to walk from the Maerampung beach to Ban Phe,-all along the coast, however, some minimal climbing skills are required. 

Koh Samet (7 Km)

Or with its official name “Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet” national park with small islands and beautiful beaches.

The Samet Archipelago includes after the largest and only inhabited island Koh Samet also the following small islands: Koh- Chan, San Chalam, Hin Khao, Kuthi, Klet Chalam, Kruai, Makham, Plai Tin, Thai Khang Kkao, Yung Kluea und Koh Thalu.

Koh Samet is an international tourist attraction and is the whole year frequently visited.
On the weekends it get’s very full with international and also nations visitors escaping Bangkok.

Koh Samet has various facets: You can find crowded beaches with lots of restaurants in the North or lonely beaches in the South with few restaurant options.

The island offers various opportunities for all kind of budgets: From simple Guesthouse away from the beach up to the luxury hotel for 3000 USD per night. 

The smaller islands can be visited from Koh Samet or Ban Phe in group or individual arrangements.

Ferries leave the center of Ban Phe to Koh Samet every hour (between 8.00 AM and 5.00 PM) and on various Piers.

Prices start from 50 THB per person (per way for a ferry) and from 200 THB for a public speed boat. Individual arrangements for groups are available.

Koh Kudi (10 Km)

Koh Kudi is one of the island in the “Khao Laem Ya – Mu Ko Samet.” national park. 

There is the possibility to stay overnight in simple bungalows with a restaurant.

The small island is covered by tropical forest and the hilly terrain makes a tour around the island a very nice time pass (2-3 hours).

The beaches are gorgeous and during the week a “Robinson Island” can be enjoyed.

This island can be visited from Koh Samet in collecting trips (350 – 700 THB per person) or in individual arrangements by speedboat 

Rayong aquarium (5 Km)

In Ban Phe the “Eastern Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center” is situated. It’s a public aquarium & research center with sea live such as turtles, sharks, rays, seahorses and many other exotic animals from the Gulf of Thailand.

The entrance fee is 20 THB per person and a visit is worthwhile, especially when travelling with children.

The coast in the direction of Chantaburi and Trat

Explore by car, motorbike or bicycle many almost untouched beaches and villages up to the Cambodian border, passing the gem-trading center Chantaburi and the island Koh Chang. 

After the Suan Son beach various beaches can be found. Initially, still relatively touristic and towards Chantaburi increasingly lonely. 
On a pier after the Marriott Hotel boats and ferry’s can be found to one island with a natural turtles preservation center.
Hat Chao Lao is a “secret” place with only few resorts, clean water and fresh seafood. It’s a nice place for a stopover and there are some very romantic resorts.
Also monkeys can be spotted in some areas begging for food.
 

Khao-Khao Wong National Park Chamao (Distance: 70 Km)

A national park in the rain forest with a river, waterfalls and caves. 

The river basins are inviting to swim, however, is not allowed. Seeing the amount of fishes is dis-encouraging from swimming anyway.
